Outwell builds some of the most comfortable camping air beds in the UK, but their range spans everything from a basic single to a king-size raised bed with built-in headboard. Different beds suit different pumps, and choosing the right air bed pump for your specific Outwell model saves time and frustration.
Outwell Valve Types
Outwell uses two main valve designs across their air bed range:
-
Standard Boston valve — found on the Classic, Flock, and entry-level beds. Compatible with virtually any air mattress pump that includes a Boston nozzle.
-
Outwell Premium Twist valve — a proprietary wider valve on the Dreamboat, Superior, and other premium beds. Outwell's own pumps seal against this perfectly; third-party pumps may need a flat wide adapter.

Outwell Squall Tent Pump
Originally designed for Outwell inflatable tents, the Squall produces both high volume and high pressure. That makes it excellent for large raised air beds that need substantial airflow followed by firm pressure to reach sleeping firmness. Rechargeable via USB.
Outwell Windstorm USB Pump
A mid-range rechargeable air bed pump with good flow rate and a comfortable grip. It handles two to three full inflations per charge and ships with nozzles for both Outwell valve types plus standard pin valves.
Outwell Wind Gust Pump
The budget entry in Outwell's range. Lower airflow and smaller battery, but adequate for a single bed or occasional use. Priced under twenty pounds, it competes with Yellowstone on value.
Outwell Thunder Foot Pump
A manual double-action foot pump with a large bellows chamber. Outwell designed it with oversized internal volume, so each stroke moves more air than typical foot pumps. A solid backup or primary manual air mattress pump.
Third-Party Pumps and Outwell Beds
For Outwell beds with standard Boston valves, any quality pump from Vango, Coleman, or Yellowstone works perfectly. For premium Outwell beds with the twist valve, test at home first. Vango's universal nozzle set sometimes fits, but the seal is not always as tight as Outwell's own adapter.
Matching Pump to Bed Size
-
Outwell Classic Single — any pump works; even a hand bellows is quick enough
-
Outwell Flock Double — a 12V or battery air bed pump inflates in about 3 minutes
-
Outwell Dreamboat Double — use the Squall or a mains pump for fastest results on this large, raised bed
-
Outwell Superior King — high capacity demands a high-flow pump; mains or the Squall recommended
Inflation and Deflation Tips for Outwell Beds
- Outwell twist valves seal very well, so deflation requires holding the valve open while the pump runs in reverse
- The Dreamboat and Superior ranges have internal baffles — fill until firm, then lie on the bed and release a little air for the most comfortable pressure
- On warm summer 2026 afternoons, air inside the bed will expand, so inflate slightly under-firm and let the heat do the rest
