The Sargent K155A is a power control system kit for van conversions. It consists of an EC155 power supply unit, an EC50 control panel, 12V and 230V wiring harnesses, and a 5 metre connecting lead for connecting the power supply unit and the control panel. This is the EC155/EC50 kit without water level.
The EC155 power supply unit has a built-in charger, 12 fuses, a residual current device (RCD) and three miniature circuit breakers (MCBs). It is surface mounted for easy installation, with all the connectors at the bottom of the unit. The harness is terminated with all the connectors ready to plug straight into the power supply unit, and all 12V feeds are left with insulated blade terminals so they can be extended if needed. The feeds include a leisure battery feed, vehicle battery feed, 2 lighting circuits, pump and toilet pump, and a permanent feed for required circuits.
With the control panel, a battery protect circuit warns and then disconnects the batteries when they fall too low: at 10.9V the selection changes from the vehicle battery to the leisure battery, and at 9V on the leisure battery the power is turned off. An over voltage cut-out turns the system power off if either battery voltage exceeds 15V. When the vehicle's engine is running, the system isolates the 12V habitation circuits (to comply with EMC legislation) and connects the leisure battery to the vehicle battery/alternator (split charging). The power supply unit shuts down if overheated and restarts automatically when cool.
For van conversions. Use a proprietary brand leisure battery with a typical capacity of 75 to 120 Ah; a normal car battery is not suitable. This equipment must be installed by a competent person or qualified electrician, in accordance with all national and local electrical wiring regulations and codes. The mains inlet socket is not supplied.
