The Sargent PF200 is a standalone 2-stage battery charger and power converter for leisure applications, providing 13.8V DC and 13.9A (192W) from a 230V AC mains supply. It can be fitted alongside Sargent power supply units. It is designed to work with lead acid batteries, and is also compatible with the latest AGM batteries and many lithium batteries with built-in battery management systems that accept an input voltage of 13.8V (check the battery manufacturer's documentation for compatibility).
In stage 1 the battery voltage is increased gradually while the current is limited, to start the charge and protect the battery. In stage 2 the voltage rises to 13.8V to deliver the bulk charge, and once the battery is charged the float charge is maintained at 13.8V, so the charger can be left switched on continuously. When the mains supply is connected, it also powers your 12V leisure equipment: up to 13.9A (192W) in total, shared between the leisure load and the battery. Its fanless design runs silently even under full load, and with no switches it does not need to be on display in the vehicle.
For leisure applications, charging the battery and powering 12V appliances from a 230V AC mains supply, on its own or alongside Sargent power supply units.
Installation: fit an inline fuse between the battery and the electrical harness in accordance with EN1648 (recommended fuse rating 20A), protect the charger input with a 5A fuse and/or a suitable miniature circuit breaker, and fuse the output at 15A maximum, as close to the charger output as possible. Always keep a clear flow of air around the charger and do not place combustible materials against it; under heavy loads the case may become hot. Explosive gases may be present near the battery when charging: prevent flames and sparks, provide adequate ventilation, and disconnect the supply before making or breaking the connections to the battery.
