Heldite Jointing Compound

Heldite Jointing Compound is a semi-permanent, methylated spirit-based pipe and thread sealant. It helps prevent leaks of petrol, diesel, lubricating and transmission oils, heating oil, paraffin, water (including sea water), steam and other gases, and it is resistant to temperature and pressure variations. It seals bolted, flanged or screwed joints.

Because it is a liquid, it is economical to use and does not tend to squeeze out into the interior of a joint and cause damage. It is non-abrasive and will not damage highly machined joint faces. Its plasticity combats the effects of temperature and pressure changes, shifting levels and the stresses of assembling dissimilar metals, such as aluminium housings bolted to cast blocks, and its adhesive factor assists gasket location and has been shown to work as a locking sealant, giving additional security to splines, studs and press-fit bearings.

• Made in the UK
• Helps prevent leakage of oils, hydraulic fluids, water, steam, gases, coolants and fuels (excluding ethanol)
• Water resistant
• Anti-corrosive and non-abrasive
• Unaffected between -40°C and +350°C
• Prevents electrolytic action from the effects of sea water
• Brush applied

For use with metals such as steel, aluminium and brass, in combination with dissimilar metals and rubbers. Uses include the assembly of different metals, cooling systems, water pumps and water pump gaskets, thermostats, exhaust and inlet manifolds, rocker cover and sump gaskets, flanged joints, compression and hydraulic compression joints, rubber hoses to radiators, bell housings, rear axle oil seals and as a thread lock sealant on a bearing. Not suitable for use with pipes carrying potable (drinking) water or alcohols.

All joints must be completely clean, dry and free from any cleansing agents or loose material before application. Stir or shake well before use. For screwed joints, apply one coat to each mating thread and screw up immediately. Drying time is 20 minutes to 8 hours, depending on temperature and humidity. Clean equipment and brushes with methylated spirit.

Highly flammable liquid and vapour. Keep away from heat, sparks, open flames and other ignition sources - no smoking. Keep the container tightly closed. Keep away from children.
